The
Butterfly Colorado Championship turned into an Interclub Regatta, with 10
sailors, all members of Union Sailing Club. 3 people were in borrowed
boats, 2 of which sailed the Butterfly for the first time the day before the
regatta. The winds cooperated nicely for a one day regatta, ranging from
6 to 16 knots, allowing 7 races in 4 hours before a threatening thunderstorm
caused the RC to send the boats in to shore.
Congratulations
to Len Dolhert for successfully defending his
Butterfly Colorado Championship title from last year. Jim Daus, USC Commodore, borrowed a boat and gave Len a serious
challenge with a very clean score line. Butterfly stalwart Mike Ruwitch scored well again, especially when the wind was
over 15 knots in the last 3 races, finishing in the top 3 for the third year
in a row.
