April Work Days!
Weather permitting, we will have a general work day on April 17th - please plan to come out and help!   Keep checking email for updates, the alternate day is April 24th.
On the list:
1. General cleaning of the site: trash/debris removal, shed cleaning
2. Distribute road base - the truck driver will dump over as large an area as possible, but we'll need volunteers to grade and level
3. Picnic table staining, shed painting
4. Readying the new storage area
5. Working on the improvements to the pontoon boat
6. Cleaning and using the BBQ

Docks in on April 10th - limited volunteers needed as heavy equipment will be used to swing the docks into their watery resting place.

Please contact
Jack Sassonif you want to help.

SPRING PARTY

If you missed it, we had a great time at the spring party.  It was so nice to meet several new families and see all you old salts as well.

We reviewed the annual budget that was prepared by your board.  This year's budget includes line items for Community and Coaching.  Coaching is easy, we already have a long history of hosting formal and informal training sessions - now we have established a budget to continue this great tradition.  Community - the City of Longmont has been such a great partner to USC, giving us the ability to have our little piece of paradise.  I would like to see USC establish a tradition of giving back to them - if you have any ideas or know of a program that you want to support, please contact me.

Seventy-five folks RSVP'd yes and 30% of those didn't show.  Unfortuneately, the club had to pay for those 30%, so we just want to remind members that if your RSVP YES, we are going to assume you will be there and tell the restuarant to prepare a meal for you (and pay for it).

Thank you,
Shannan Tenze, Commodore

Invitation from REI
USC received this invitation from REI press agent:

REI to host the 3rd Annual Spirit of the Outdoors Film Festival (SOFF)

Boulder, Colorado - March 10, 2010 - The Spirit of the Outdoors Film Festival is a community style event which encourages outdoor enthusiasts to share what inspires them through film.  The festival will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 6:00PM in the Community Room at REI in Boulder, Colorado.

All skill levels are welcome to bring their stories of adventure, nature, stewardship, travel and more to life on the big screen at REI.  Filmmakers ages 12 and up are encouraged to submit videos - up to 5 minutes long - showing why they love the outdoors and how they experience it.  Novice filmmakers seeking to fine tune their skills can take instructional filmmaking classes with sponsor, Boulder Digital Arts.

There is no fee to submit a film and no fee to attend SOFF.  Film submissions will be accepted by REI March 10 through April 10, 2010.  All SOFF details and submission requirements can be found at the official web site www.spiritoftheoutdoorsfilmfestival.com

REI and their non-profit event partners want to reward people with a zest for the outdoors.  They have secured fantastic prizes for finalists screened at SOFF and even some for audience members!
