ReUnion Regatta Huge Success
The First Annual ReUnion Regatta is in the books, and is well established to becoming a regular event on the regional racing scene. We had 19 boats, approximately 1/3 visiting from other sailing clubs. We had to wait an hour each morning for the wind to decide to show up, then we had good racing in light winds (until the tornado warnings came!). We had 3 fleets, and USC members swept all 3 first place finishes, with Jim Daus and Sue Switzer dominating the 9-boat Portsmouth Red fleet with a perfect score of 5 firsts. Jack Sasson with different USC crew each day (Catherine on Saturday, Paul Acker on Sunday) won the Snipe fleet, and new member Phil Pegion and I narrowly won the Portsmouth Green fleet. Huge thanks go out to many volunteers who helped pull off our first Open Regatta of the year, especially Tara Parks of Sail Colorado who was the Regatta Coordinator, Steve Titus who was the Principal Race Officer, Ivan Andrade who was the safety / mark boat operator. With Paul C. scoring, 8 different people helping on the RC boat, Robert setting up the motor boats, it was truly a group effort, and everyone's help was greatly appreciated!
Special Thanks to Tara Parks and Craig Cowley of Sail Colorado, exclusive Coloroado Laser dealers, for all of their hard work and Regatta Sponsorship.
