Rental Boat Check out info

If you have significant sailing experience & can rig and sail a boat independently, as well as right as capsized boat (Lasers, Sunfish and RS Feva) contact rentals@unionsailingclub.org to schedule a checkout certification. Checkouts and rentals are only available to club members, but prospective members are welcome to come and take a look at the boats.  Checkouts go over the rental rules, equipment location and care, rigging details, and evaluate your sailing skills.

You must demonstrate that you can rig and de-rig the boat with minimal assistance and have sufficient sailing skills to get yourself out of trouble if weather conditions suddenly change (which they often do at Union) and avoid damaging the boats. 

The capsize test will likely require you to get fully into the water. If you were previously checked out on a rental boat, you are still checked out. During & following check out, all renters should have a sponge or rag with them to wipe down boats & rigging before/after use.

There is a $50 check out fee due when you schedule the check-out.  To pay go to the Store,  locate in the banner on the club website. This is fee will apply to Laser, Sunfish and Catalina rentals.
